We would like to draw your attention to the increase in spoofing fraud attempts, where attackers call potential victims from a phone number that appears to be the bank's and pose as employees of financial institutions. The OTP Bank Romania Foundation offered financial education courses for almost 500 participants in Miercurea-Ciuc

Miercurea-Ciuc, June 29, 2023 – OTP Bank Romania Foundation offered free financial education courses for almost 500 participants through a new program in Miercurea-Ciuc, inaugurated last year in partnership with the city Municipality.

Since the launch of the program, almost 500 students from four secondary schools and six high schools have benefited from the courses offered by the OTP Bank Romania Foundation, which included five meetings on financial education. 95% of the participants gave positive feedback about these activities for developing financial and economic skills, stating that they "loved the exercises", "felt entertained", and "felt fulfilled".

In addition to the financial education program for middle and high school students, the Foundation tested a financial education session for a group of 18 pre-schoolers (3-6 years old). Through play, the Foundation's accredited trainers were able to discuss with the pre-schoolers the meaning of money, its role, savings, and the concept of needs and wants.

The Foundation also ran a unique initiative through workshops for representatives of the Roma community. The workshops aimed to raise awareness about financial education and to provide financial literacy to this disadvantaged community. In support of the same community, the Foundation organized a volunteering campaign whereby 33 children received backpacks fully equipped with the necessary teaching materials to start the new school year.

"Our results in the 2022-2023 school year confirm that the partnership with the Municipality of Miercurea-Ciuc to implement this program has been a real success, which we are happy about and celebrate now, one year after the start of the project. Thanks to the constant support from the Municipality, schools have enrolled in the program and based on the excellent feedback from the participants, the number of registrations has steadily increased", said Delia Murafa, Director of OTP Bank Romania Foundation.

"We cannot yet estimate the major benefits that will be brought to the community by the educational program carried out in Miercurea-Ciuc in partnership with OTP Bank Romania Foundation. The young students that participated and will participate in this training program will have a significant advantage in life. They will gain practical knowledge about conscious personal budget planning and learn basic financial concepts. This will contribute to the long-term economic prosperity of the Municipality", said Mayor Korodi Attila.

The OTP Bank Romania Foundation promotes financial education and among the most important objectives is the development of valuable partnerships in all financial education and professional education areas, which support the training and development of the young generation in Romania. In its 9 years of activity, the Foundation managed to build an important portfolio of educational projects, developed around four main activity lines: financial education, children’s education, career guidance, and strategic partnerships with local associations and NGOs.
